What kinds of PDFs work well for creating Anki cards?
Textbooks, lecture notes, research papers, exam material, and reference documents can all work well, especially when their text is searchable and selectable. Clear structure and complete pages make it easier to create accurate cards with useful context.
Can AnkiPlus process scanned PDFs?
Yes. When a page has too little text, the service tries to recognize text from its image and continues using the page image as context. Scanned pages may take longer, and recognition may be incomplete.
What file do I get, and how do I import it into Anki?
When the task is complete, you can download an Anki card package. In Anki, choose Import and open that file to add the cards to your decks and continue reviewing.
Can I convert only selected pages from a PDF?
Yes. Leave the page field empty to process everything, or enter one or more ranges such as 1-3,5,8-10. Overlapping ranges are merged automatically.
How is the cost calculated, and when is it charged?
The cost is based on the pages selected for this task. After choosing the material and page range, you can review the page count, cost, and available payment methods. The task starts only after a second confirmation.
Can I close or leave the page while cards are being generated?
Yes. The task is saved in your personal workspace and keeps running. Return later to check progress or download the result; pages already completed do not restart because you left. If your account has a bound email address, you will receive an email when the task succeeds, reaches a final failure, or reaches a final timeout. You do not need to stay on the page; retries and cancellation do not trigger notifications. Emails use your account language preference, not the card language, and default to English if the preference is missing or invalid.
What happens if the task keeps failing? Will I get a refund?
The task keeps its progress and continues automatically after temporary interruptions. If it still cannot finish after reaching the retry limit, it shows a final failure and returns the task cost automatically.
What's the difference between Anki and AnkiPlus?
Anki is a separate app for spaced flashcard reviews. AnkiPlus turns your PDF into a card package you can import into Anki. AnkiPlus is not an official Anki product and does not replace Anki's review features.
Do I need to install Anki before making cards?
No. You can upload a PDF, generate cards, and download the package in AnkiPlus first. To import, view, and review the cards, visit Anki's official site to find the version for your device. Check the official site for mobile availability and pricing.
Can I edit the generated cards?
Yes. Download the completed card package and import it into Anki, where you can check and edit the card content. Save your changes in Anki; edits made there do not automatically sync back to this page.
Should I check AI-generated cards myself?
Yes. Recognizing scans, interpreting diagrams, and extracting key ideas can introduce mistakes or omissions, especially in formulas, specialist terms, and important conclusions. Compare critical details with the original PDF before relying on the cards for long-term review.
